I had questions about this instrument in comparison to both other flutes and the Glenn Edward nickel-plated flute which is more popular as far as a selling item here at Amazon and the man I called at The Instrument Store was so very helpful. He answered my questions and I did not feel pressured.
The flute arrived just 2 days after my order went in and it came securely packaged. I gave it to my teenage daughter who's been playing the flute for the past 7 years and she absolutely loved it. At first, we all thought it had problems but upon careful examination, realized that the flute was well-packed and had small pieces of cork under some of the pads and keys. Once those were removed, it played well, except for the D or E note. My daughter tried to play her musical piece, still with the problems. She cleaned the flute (cleaning pipe came with the flute) and the next day when I sat down to call the company, I played the flute and it sounded beautiful. Our guess is that when she cleaned it with the pipe cleaner, one of the protective pieces was still there and was dislodged by the cleaning cloth.
The flute case is beautiful, sturdy and appears to be high quality. My daughter loves that it's so comfortable to adjust the carrying strap and toss it over her shoulder.
By the way, the answer I was given about the difference between the nickel-plated and the silver-plated flutes is that the nickel will pretty much always remain shiny and the silver will need to be polished often. The nickel will become discolored in places where your hand (or lip) touches it pretty consistently. It will take quite a while to discolor, but once it does it's pretty impossible to get that part shiny again. The nickel flute is great for younger kids, but the silver flute is typically lighter and does have a better sound quality than nickel.
This is a fabulous deal for what you're getting. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to play...it's less expensive than fixing an old flute. |

| This is an excellent flute for a beginning band student. My daughter loved it so much that she turned in the borrowed instrument from the school. Her music teacher also says it's a great flute is definitly worth every penny paid for. The company does an excellent job with shipping...we are not in the US and still received it in about a weeks time! Awesome! |

| I was really surprised at how quickly I received the flute and how nice it was for the price. It sounds really nice too, I highly recommend it for a beginner. |

I originally had a second-hand Yamaha student flute, which was great when I was starting out. It was nickel, and had rather hideous spots all over it, but the sound was great. However, after a while, I wanted a new flute, and I opted for silver to avoid the fading and splotching. After doing careful research for a few weeks, I decided to buy the MayBach flute.
I was wary because it was a brand I hadn't heard of, but the price was great and so were the reviews, so I took a chance. My flute came quickly in fantastic condition and sounded even lovelier. I played it several times a day every day for a month before deciding to write a review, in case it turned out to be shoddily constructed (such as the colored flutes from China, which are made of pot metal and fall apart within the first few weeks), but it has held up, still sounds beautiful, and remains in top-notch condition. I am impressed with it and for the price, it is absolutely a steal.
On a side note, my flute's tuner was extremely difficult to slide. It does come with joint lubrication, which I should have used, but I accidentally threw it out with the box! Oops!
A nice bonus was the carrying case! It's much softer, more attractive, and easier to handle and carry than the typical, hard, student case. To top it off, it comes with a lovely polishing cloth and cleaning rod. I totally trust this seller, and will likely be buying a clarinet from them in the near future.
If you're looking for a good flute at a low price, but you have reservations, you won't be disappointed with this! |

| Got this for my grand daughter and couldn't be more pleased. Exceeded my expectations and she is thrilled (as is her musical Dad) and using it. It is an excellent student flute and a great price. Stunning delivery time, too. Wish I could find as exceptional a buy on a saxophone. |
Great Service!

| I've always played brass instruments (mainly trumpet) and recently decided to take up flute as well. I wasn't sure if I would like it, or even if I would be able to play at all. Well, after months of practice and a few lessons I still wouldn't say I play very well, but it's been fun! This flute sounds decent. I'm no expert on flutes (20+ years of trumpet), but I suspect it would be great for a beginning flute player in junior high or high school. |
Great tone

| After losing my good old flute in a house fire, I was given a flute by a friend. I played it some, but I felt like I had lost my ability to really play. It was discouraging. After receiving this flute from my husband for Christmas I tried it out. It wasn't me! Yahoo! This flute has a wonderful tone. I can easily play the hight notes, and low notes. It makes me excited to play again. No problems at all with shipping, or the condition of the flute. I am very happy with it. |

| I ordered this amazing, silver plated flute on December 8th so it would come in time for my concert on December 15th. It came the day of and I imediately fell in love with it. It has a magnificent sound, and is easy to play. I recomend this flute for all ages. The only thing that upsetted me with the flute was that I expidited the order, and it came seven days after I placed the order. Overall, this is a beautiful flute, that sounds amazing, and, is great with any budget!!!!!!!! Also, it is very shiny and appealing to any eye!! |
We love it.

After several months, my daughter still loves this flute! Her teacher said it's a nice flute and it tunes easily. The flute is beautiful, plays well, and cleans easily. The case is wonderful. She no longer has to hold a handle because the case comes with a nice strap so she can hold it over her shoulder. We couldn't be happier with the product and it's already paid for itself when adding up the rental fees.
edited to add: At approximately 5 months out, the zipper broke on the case and my daughter is holding it together with a rubber band. Still no complaints on the flute. |
A treasure

| I am very happy with this purchase. It is a beautiful, well made flute. It has a crisp, beautiful sound and came exactly when they said it would. I like that it isn't as heavy as my other older model and the case is heavy duty and easy to carry with the shoulder strap. |

I bought this flute a few months ago for my daughter, who is in middle school band. It worked okay for a couple of weeks, but then it developed problems (2 notes would not play). I sent it back, and the company cheerfully sent me a replacement. All was well until 2 weeks ago, when it broke again. This time, 4 notes would not play. A technician visited the school, took a look at it, and managed to fix 2 of the notes. We then took it to the local music store, where we were told that it cannot be fixed (supposedly because it's made of base metal). With over 2 months remaining in the school year, a concert tomorrow night and festival coming up soon, we're in a real pinch!
I managed to find a used Gemeinhardt 2SP flute from a friend of my older daughter. I don't know how old the flute is, but all the notes play and it has a much better tone quality than the new Maybach flute. It is my hope that it will get my daughter through the rest of middle school band so I won't have to rent an instrument or buy something expensive.
I'm sorry I wasted my hard-earned money on the Maybach flute, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. It didn't even last 6 months! |
