Guide to Left Handed Acoustic Guitars
October 12th, 2009 | Acoustic Musical Instruments, Buyer's Guide, Guitars
One distinctive as well as important group of guitars is the group of left handed guitars. The left handed acoustic guitar is held with the fret board positioned in the right hand, and the guitar player uses his or her left hand to do the picking. The strings of the left handed acoustic guitar are also reversed in comparison to the standard acoustic guitar. In other words, the left handed acoustic guitar appears just like a mirror image of a standard right handed guitar. There are many different styles as well as shapes available for the left handed acoustic guitar, meaning that you are left with plenty of options to choose from. There is no shortage of chances to be creative with your left handed acoustic guitar.
One thing that is going to need to be considered when it comes to the left handed acoustic guitar is how available these left handed guitars are. These guitars were once very difficult to find, up until recently in fact. Although there have been laws passed to discriminate against practices such as this, it can still be relatively difficult to find left handed acoustic guitars for sale as easily as you find right handed acoustic guitars. This is especially true if you have a particular style in mind. If you are less picky about the style of your left handed acoustic guitar, you may have an easier time of trying to find the guitar to suit your needs.
Good musical instrument makers do not make any assumptions, nor do they have any bias toward players that play with their right hand dominant. The left handed player, then, is just as near and dear to these manufacturers as the right handed player. In other words, when it comes to the design and development of the left handed acoustic guitar, the manufacturers of high quality musical instruments are working hard to give the left handed player a number of oftens, and they are working hard to accommodate left handed acoustic guitar players just as much as they apply those that play with their right hand.
These left handed acoustic guitar manufacturers are working to add several different brand new lines of left handed acoustic guitars to their product line up. These exclusive left handed acoustic guitars feature six strings or twelve strings and are available both as metal or non metal. Many of these left handed acoustic guitar manufacturers are creating the opportunity for interested left handed players to special order their own specific guitar, opening up new possibilities for their music. The price here will depend on a number of different factors, including but not limited to the quality of the instrument's acoustics, the material that the body is made from and the visual design or appeal of the instrument.
Some of the leading manufacturers of guitars in the world are picking up on this practice, including Martin, Norman, Gibson, Larrive, Faith, Simon and Patrick and Seagull just to name a few.
