Getting children interested in music is not normally a difficult task, especially considering how many different types of music there are out there. If you are looking to get your children interested in acoustic music, however, the process may be a little more difficult. Children begin listening to music as babies, and many new parents introduce them to music when they are still in the womb. Introducing your children to acoustic music as soon as you can is a big first step in getting them interested in acoustic music when they are still young.

In the earliest years of school, children are introduced to a lot of different kinds of music, and some of it will be acoustic music. If you want to further ingrain these concepts into your children, then you need to take the time to get them interested in acoustic music at home as well. Play acoustic music at home, and introduce your children to different instruments and different musicians. The trick to getting your kids interested in acoustic music is to share with them without forcing the music on them. By allowing them to experience a variety of different acoustic instruments and musicians, you will be allowing them to get a feel for what types of acoustic music are out there, letting them choose their own favorites and allowing them to become interested at their own pace.

Acoustic music is beautiful music, and it should not be hard to get your children interested in it. There are a variety of different styles of acoustic music, because there are so many different types of acoustic instruments that can be played. Some of the most popular acoustic instruments include the acoustic guitar, piano, drums, violin, cello, flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, cornet, trombone, French horn, banjo, recorder, viola, tuba and oboe. Some of these acoustic instruments are intended for orchestral play, while other instruments have their own unique purposes. So you may want to experiment with different types of acoustic music, showing your children orchestral and classical music, jazz music, acoustic guitar music and a variety of other types of music so that they can get a real feel for what is available out there.

Just as there are a wide variety of different acoustic instruments, there are also numerous styles of music and different acoustic musicians out there. Many acoustic musicians have their own unique styles drawing from numerous different music styles. For example, Al Petteway is an acoustic musician who draws his influences from Celtic music, blues music, folk music and even R&B music, making the acoustic music that he creates on the guitar unique to most other musicians out there.

The best thing that you can do to get your children interested in acoustic music is to show them a wide variety of different acoustic instruments, acoustic music and acoustic musicians. The more you expose them to, the more likely you will be to become interested in this enjoyable style of music.

Picking the right acoustic instrument from your child is important, because the wrong instrument will not inspire your child to learn how to master the concept of playing music. Research has shown that it is extremely beneficial for children to learn a musical instrument. Choosing an instrument that suits them is absolutely imperative. Here are some of the acoustic instruments that you can choose for your child to learn. Picking the right acoustic instrument for your child is not difficult when armed with the right information.

Stringed Instruments -

Most stringed instruments can be learned as early as before the age of five. Violins can be purchased in as small as a 1/16 size, meaning that the tiniest little fingers can play them. Cellos can be purchased in as small as 1/4 size, meaning that they can be played by students aged 3 to 4. Even the double bass or stand up bass can be found in a half size version, however these instruments require more physical strength to carry so it is best to put this instrument off to age eleven or so.

Woodwind Instruments -

Most children can experience the recorder in the younger years of school, and this is an excellent foundation for learning to read music, develop breath control and play other woodwind instruments over time. Other woodwind instruments are not ideal until the child has grown in all of his or her adult teeth, so ages 7 or 8 are ideal for learning to play a woodwind instrument. It is generally quite easy to find clarinet or flute lessons for younger children. The clarinet is by far one of the easiest woodwinds to begin with.

Brass Instruments -

Brass instruments can be learnt beginning at around 7 or 8 years of age. Playing the recorder will prepare young students for learning how to play brass instruments. The best and easiest instruments to learn are the trumpet, the tuba and the trombone.

Percussion Instruments -

Drums can be learnt at nearly any age, but lessons are not usually offered in school. People who learn to play orchestral instruments like the xylophone usually begin by practicing the piano.

Piano -

Piano lessons are easy to find, and your children can learn on a keyboard if a piano cannot be afforded. The piano is a difficult instrument to learn but is worthwhile as soon as the hands are large enough to manage the keys.

Harp -

Harp teachers are difficult to find, so most harpists learn to play on the piano first as it teaches basic music comprehension. Smaller folk harps can be learned by children aged 8 and older, but full sized harps are heavier and larger and are best suited for ages 11 and up.

Guitar -

There are a couple of different acoustic guitars that can be learned, and the guitar is pretty easy for children to learn as long as they can manage the strings and holding the guitar. Guitar lessons are easy enough to find, so teaching a child to play the guitar at the age of eight or older is ideal.

There are a wide variety of different advantages that can be achieved through the teaching and learning of music. When it comes to laying the foundation between kids and acoustic instruments, you will find that there are numerous benefits to be discovered through music education, making it absolutely vital that you bring kids and acoustic instruments together early, as well as often.

- Learning music teaches self esteem.

Learning music is something that is difficult, but also quite rewarding. This can lead to a genuine increase in a child's self esteem, when that student masters one of the many steps involves in becoming a proficient musician, as well as in events where a concert or a recital is successful.

- Learning music increases memory capacity.

One of the many benefits that is readily associated with music education for children is that it can help the child to increase their memory capacity as they learn the different notes and songs.

- Learning music promotes self expression.

Music can be a really great creative outlet, promoting self expression.

- Learning music brings people together.

Music can be an excellent catalyst for bringing people together; uniting them in a common experience. Children can make friends during their music education and they can gain a real sense of belonging.

- Learning music can increase overall academic performance.

When you talk about the benefits that come with music education, especially for children, one of the ideas that come up is that learning music can boost academic performance and achievement in other ways as well. The mechanics behind this concept are not widely understood, but because music is thought to stimulate the brain, parts of this stimulation may carry over to other academic areas.

- Learning music can promote teamwork.

Learning to work well alongside others is one of those things that is overlooked when present, but unfortunately quite obvious when absent. Performing music requires teamwork skills and shows that they are valuable not only in a child's music education, but also throughout their life as well.

- Learning music promotes structure, discipline and organization.

When it comes to talking about the benefits associated with music education, acknowledging the value found in organization, structure and discipline is important. Learning structure and organization is vital, because they can carry a child forward in life, not just in music. When a child can develop discipline by setting time aside every day or week in order to practice music, they can eliminate habits of procrastination by learning how to discipline themselves. Just like with structure and organization, having the discipline to practice daily or weekly is a life characteristic that can be applied to many other facets of the child's life as well.

- Learning music promotes enjoyment.

Sure, enjoyment may not be everyone's top priority, but when considering the benefits of music education for children, it can be an exceptional asset that is well worth considering. Playing an instrument that is enjoyable and keeps the child's attention will keep them out of trouble and give them something fun to focus on instead.
