If you are in the market for a new acoustic guitar, and you have never played before, then there are a lot of considerations that you are going to need to make. The reason for this is because there are a myriad of different acoustic guitars out there, each providing something unique. Finding the right guitar is really going to play an important role in helping you achieve the sound you want and the quality of play. When you are ready to buy an acoustic guitar, you need to put stock into all of the following factors in order to achieve the best results:

Your desired musical style is an important factor. The kind of music that you want to make is going to help to determine the type of acoustic music guitar that you want to get. For example, if you want to play classical guitar then you are going to need a guitar with nylon strings. If you want to play blues music, rock music or jazz music then you are going to need a guitar with steel strings. On the other hand, if you want to play a more supportive role in the band, or if you just really enjoy funky bass lines, then you should buy an acoustic bass guitar instead.

Your chosen venue is another important factor. Acoustic guitars are best for small and intimate types of venues. If you want to play the bigger gigs, you may need amplification, or a good microphone. These are some things you are going to want to consider, especially since there are also electric-acoustic hybrid options for you to choose from.

The size of the guitar is also an important factor. If you are on the smaller side for example, then you are going to want to buy a ¾ size guitar. There are also children's guitar sizes, which are all half sizes in comparison to regular acoustic guitars. If you want a guitar that can travel well with you, these acoustic guitars are both smaller and lighter and they do not sacrifice any quality of sound in the process.

Another important factor is quality. You can select a beginner model as a first time guitar player, assuming that it isn't going to matter if you drop, break or otherwise damage it. You are going to outgrow a lesser quality acoustic guitar, however, and you should also be thinking in the long term when it comes to investing in your musical future. If you have the money to replace your acoustic guitar in the near future, then investing in a cheaper model now is no big deal. Otherwise, just buy a good quality acoustic guitar now and strive to care for it properly.
